Sketches for my Digi Pack

First Sketch

Above is a sketch of a potential cover for the CD case, I have decided to use a simple 4 side CD cover as I feel it fits with the simplicity of the style of Ben Howard's music. The left hand of the sketch is the front cover of the digi pack, I have used conventional text on my CD cover as the name of the artist and the album title is presented. The artist's name will be displayed in large font as it is a key selling point for the digi pack and will catch the attentions of the potential consumers and fans. The main image on the front cover will be a mid shot of my actor Leonie, however as the album cover focuses not only on the single which Leonie is present but the album and soundtracks as a whole I will use photoshop to enhance the image and make the focal point her hair and the layout of the image rather than solely Leonie. On the right is the back cover of my CD, here the full album songlist will be displayed, extra bonuses such as 'Live Editions' and 'Acoustic Covers' done by Ben Howard will also be available on the CD. Conventional information such as production information about the album, the record company, a barcode and the DVD logo will also be on the back cover. The image which I will use on the back cover which be a photo from behind of a teenage girl outdoors, the focus will be placed again on her hair.

Above shows a sketch of the inside covers of my digi pack. The left hand side will focus on an image of my artist outdoors surrounded by nature. In large font on this page there will also be a comment from my artist about their new album. I have decided not to put a lot of text on this page as I would prefer the image to be at the centre of the audience's attention. On the right the CD for the album will be placed in my digi pack. Evidently this will take up the majority of this cover so I decided to put a simple background of the forest, and the trees against the sun.

Second Sketch

I decided to do a second sketch of the potential covers for my CD case. Before starting my second sketch I realised that it was necessary to pay more attention to the size of a CD case, as my first sketch is not in proportion to an actual digi pack. As I have decided that I will create a CD case which has only 4 covers, I used this style again with my second sketch. The purpose of doing a second sketch is to explore the different images which I could use on the cover and how this will impact on the presentation of the CD. In this skecth on the left, my artist is the main focus as he is on the front cover of the CD cas,e this is clear to the audience unlike the front cover of the first sketch. On the right, the back cover of the CD, I have decided to use the image which places strong focus on her hair. I feel like the image will work here because it is a simple yet effective background which will fit in behind the information such as the album track list and production information.

Above shows the second sketch for the inside of my CD case. On the left I would like to place an image of my character flinging her hair back and forth. This image represents the freedom, the sense of exitement and adrenaline which Ben Howard's music will give to his fans. This image will also be displayed with a short comment on the album from Ben Howard. On the right is the cover where the album CD will be placed. Here the sketch is similar to my first sketch this is because I haven't completely decided which other image I would like to place on this cover as it will be obscured by the CD, so at the moment I have kept the idea of my scenery and landscape.
